How much do you thing a 2002 chevy suburban with 68,000 miles on it is worth?My family wants to sell ours and we wanted someone’s opinion.

A: First of all, let me say that I am a used car manager at a chevy dealership in southern CA and that we are practically turning down everyone that comes in with a big, old suv or giving them little for what is worth.
the car market went down when gas prices rose
(especially in CA). If you brought me that car today and it was in perfect condition…i would at most give you $3500.

the reason for the low price is that we go by the wholesale book and we NEVER repeat NEVER recieve a trade unless its around $1000 below the wholesale value. But since your car is dead cold on the market…its useless to any dealer.

I recommend you sell to an individual rather an an dealership.

Does anyone know the average mileage/lifespan of a Chevy Suburban? If you need a year, we’re eyeballing the 2001’s.

A: My father owns a 2001 and damn he travels all over the place with it. He loves being in the road. MY parents are never at home and the burban has 309,425 miles on it he bought it new but the burban has her maintence when it needs it ( like oil changes and fluid flushes ) the only thing he had to change on it was the alternator due to the car audio and video system and the starter dont know why but it still runs like new but a little rough on the gas peddlenot as soft as it was new.

Q: What causes my Chevy Suburban to be squeaky when on the road?
I have a 2000 Chevy Suburban and I keep hearing a squeaky/ squealing sound when diving. First it started from the left from passenger tire. Now I hear the squeaking all around the Suburban it squeaks and squeals all the time no matter how fast or slow you go. The only time you don’t hear the noise is when its parked or at a light. We have had new tires put on it and have had the brakes done recently. What could be causing the suburban to sound so bad.

A: Yes, it could be wheel bearings, rear end, or transfer case if its a 4×4. But also check your fan or brakes. Do you you ride your brakes down a hill? If you downshift it into 3,2, 0r 1 it will save all of your drive train parts,. Just a tip to prevent more stuff.

Is the 2500 the bigger one then the 1500.

A: no difference in size, 2500 is usually a little taller due to heavy duty suspension and bigger wheels/tires. But length and cargo capacity is the same 92-99 had 5.7, 7.4 and after 93 6.5 (diesel). The long wheelbase is a Suburban, anything shorter is a Tahoe.
The Duramax was not available until 01, and is still not a Suburban option. Nor was there ever a 3500 Suburban.
If you don’t need to tow over 5000lbs stick with the 1500, a little cheaper to operate.

How do you change the air conditioner belt on a 2001 chevy suburban? Help please?

A: Actually, there ARE 2 serpentine belts on your LS powered Suburban. A large one that drives everything except the A/C and a tiny small one the drive’s the A/C only. The small one is down low to the passenger side. You’ll have to remove the large belt first by pushing over the spring loaded tensioner with the proper tool. Remember it is SPRING LOADED. Then, if it’s a 4×4, just slide under and do the same with the little A/C belt, spring loaded tensioner. Just remember the belt routing’s and make sure they all get put back in the proper gooves. There’s usually a belt routing diagram somewhere around the front underhood plastic cowling. If not, draw a diagram or take a picture with a cell before removing the belt’s.

Q: How big is the stock sub for a chevy suburban?
I have a 2002 chevy suburban with the blown sub woofer looking to replace it how big is the stock sub for the chevy? 8 or 10 inch? anyone know? any websites that might say?

A: If you are talking about the BOSE stereo system sub, it’s an 8″, but it’s not the kind you will find at any old store, it’s a very specially designed low impedance, free air sub, which you have to purchase through BOSE to get a replacement.

Q: How much would it cost to repaint a 1993 Chevy Suburban?
So I have a 1993 chevy suburban in maroon and want to repaint it the same color.

Are there any places that do a good job but don’t charge more than $500?

A: If you can do it your self around 500 dollars . To get it done right around $3000 give or take .

Q: Can an improper radiator flush cause a water pump failure on a Chevy Suburban?
I recently got a radiator flush on my 2003 Chevy Suburban (as part of a 60,000 service). Two weeks later there’s coolant on the garage floor and I’m forced to spend $500+ to replace the water pump. Coincidence? Or, did the dealer screw up something as part of the 60,000 mile service?

A: I’d assume it is just a coincidence. The only way I could see a coolant flush destroying the waterpump is if something solid entered your cooling system while they replaced the anti-freeze and that solid object jammed the pump blades.

Q: What is the Oil Capacity of 1998 Chevy Suburban?
I am changing my oil, so how much new oil do I put back in? It is 1998 Chevy Suburban K1500 with 5.7L V8. Also, should I use synthetic oil in Hawaii, or is it just a waste of money?

A: Put in five quarts, run the engine for a couple of minutes, turn off and wait a minute for the oil to drain back down into the oil pan and check again. You may have to add a little more so I would buy six quarts. I personally am a Valvoline man but synthetic oil is good. It’s a preference thing. I have never had a problem with Valvoline and I’ve saved Lot’s of money in the meantime.

Q: Is it safe for an almost 17 year old new driver to drive a Chevy suburban?
We have a daughter that will be 17 in Jan. We have been taking her out driving and preparing her for her driving test and the road so when school starts she can start transporting herself and her sister to and from school. However, we have a Chevy suburban that my husband wants her to drive instead of buying her a smaller more manageable car. He believes that since it is so big they will be safer. I have heard differentl, that it gives them a false sense of security. I am not sure what to think about any of this. Anyone had experience with any of this? Any information about this would be appreciated, thanks.

A: the Chevy suburban is a real safe vehicle ,but she may not have enough driving experience to handle this large of a vehicle,they are kind of hard to get used to ,but there one of the safest ones on the road today,i think though its lot of vehicle for a younger person to be driving,and it may turn out to be more than she can handle also,if it were me id buy her a smaller SUV if safety is a big concern ,and i know it is,this way she could get use to driving hero own vehicle,a smaller one would be ok for her,but a full size suburban may create problems for her,good luck on this one,he,s just wanting her to be safe,and i know how he feels, i have 2 daughters also,and was the same way.

Q: How to hook up a line out converter to a chevy suburban?
i have a chevy suburban and i have to put in a line out conv to get a signal to my amp, i was wondering if anyone knew how to get to the subwoofer in the rear without breaking the plastic and how to hook up a line out conv. any help is appreciated.

Q: why does my Chevy suburban have 2 batteries ?
I just bought a 1997 Chevy suburban, and i popped the hood, to check my fluid levels and saw that the beast has 2 Batteries, anyone know why it has/needs 2 batts.
No it does not have a diesel engine, its gasoline, and its all orignal.no add ons .i.e updated radio, monitors or anything to that effect, IT DOES have a class 4 towing hitch tho.

A: The two battery option on a gas engine truck was part of the ‘cold weather package’ it gives you increased cranking power for cold starts in extreme weather. If you live south of Green bay Wisconsin you can take one of the batterys out.

Q: Does the 1999 Chevy Suburban have a fuel cut-off switch?
1999 Chevy Suburban K1500 4×4 LT. Is there a fuel cut off switch somewhere one this model?
If it does have a fuel cut off, where is the switch to turn it back on?

A: -IF- your vehicle has the cut off, (not sure they used them in ‘99) then i believe it would be behind the kick panel on the passenger side near the floor just in front of the door. Mostly these inertia cut offs are used in the newest gm cars and trucks (last 4 or 5 years) and they rarely fail or trip due to anything other than a collision. they are only there to shut the fuel pump off in the event of an accident.

SIDE NOTE: have you checked your other posting about the fuel pump fuse? i left instruction on locating the fuse. if you can’t get verification on which ecm fuse it is then check them all. did you find it? if you found the fuse and still can’t get your pump to kick on then i can say with 99.9% confidence that you will need to replace your fuel pump. when you do, make sure you replace the connector that comes with it. they give you the new one for a very good reason and you’d do yourself a big favor to read the paper that comes with the pump before you just throw out the paper and wire harness.

Q: Where to find a hood ornament for a 1991 Chevy Suburban?
I am looking to surprise my hubby with a hood ornament for his 1991 Chevy Suburban 1500. I’m looking for a used part. I have contacted the chevy shop and they only have new ones. Ebay only will take pay pal. I don’t know where to find one. If you know please help me out.
